A Dialogue on Race: What Then Must We Do?

Event details

  • November 18, 2017
  • 10:00 am
  • 116 Bavaro Hall University of Virginia

If we want better race relations among our churches, we must better understand each other – including how our different cultural backgrounds can lead to different interpretations of the same information, symbols, and events. With this in mind, we hope to jump-start a meaningful dialogue on race by discussing historical contexts, stereotypes, and current race-related occurrences and the implications of conversations such as this on Christians and carrying out the Gospel. Please join us on Saturday, November 18, 2017 in 116 Bavaro Hall on the grounds of the University of Virginia as Andy Anderson and Derick Williams leads us in a discussion on the Gospel and Race. The discussion will be held from10:00am to 1:00pm, lunch will be served. If you plan to attend, please notify Derick Williams at dw4pd@virginia.edu or by text at 434-284-2113 so that we can plan accordingly. We will all leave with answers to the question, “What can Christians do to address the racial inequities we face today?”
